Sky Blue Coffee and Bistro is breakfasty joint that reminds me of Europe or colonial Mexico.

While it is a coffee place, it's mainly a sit down and order from the menu place.

Pied Piper Creamery is an ice cream shop that is the anti-franchise.  Jenny serves her ice cream creations in a converted old house.  The ice cream flavors are uniquely names (Vanilla Ice Ice Baby), and top quality in taste.  It's kid-friendly and relaxing (especially on the porch).

Josh says:  I always get Oatmeal Raisin in the Sun.  I think it's the best ice cream that exists.

I Dream of Weenie is a VW van-turned-weenie-kitchen that serves hot dogs with inventive names.

As of May 2009, this is East Nashville's ONLY full service weenery.

Josh says:  I went last week.  The hotdogs are good.
