Woodland Wine Merchant

5pts-woodland-wineWoodland Wine Merchant is the enjoyable place to shop for wine in East Nashville.  There are other places to go nearby, but you have to strengthen yourself first to go inside.

This place puts pricetags tied with threads on the bottles, and includes descriptions of the wine and vineyard for the bottles.

Kroger's

en-kroger-logo(technically, it's just "Kroger", not "Kroger's")

While a regional chain, I wanted to give recognition to the Eastland Kroger because it is staple to East Nashville living.

Our Kroger's is also one of the most diverse grocery stores in the nation.  I see black, white; rich, poor; young, old in there every visit.

Hours: 7am - 11pm 7 days a week

Address: 711 Gallatin (at Eastland)

Eastside Cycles

5pts-eastside-cycles-logoBefore Eastside Cycles, the closest bike stores were either in West End, Hendersonville or Opry Mills.  It's great to have one in the neighborhood.

East Nashville is very bikable.  With a grid of streets, and limited connections to other parts of town, the streets are very bike-friendly.  Shelby bottoms also provides 5 miles of paved path for neighborhood long-rides.

Products/Services:  They sell bikes, rent bikes, fix bikes, and talk about bikes.

Address: 1012 Woodland St.

Cumberland Hardware

Cumberland Hardware is a community hardware store that has survived the competition of Home Depot and Lowe's.

The store has been operating in it's present location for over 100 years.  I saw a picture (in Battered and Fried) of 5-points in the 1920's (1930's?) with Cumberland Hardware in it's same spot.

It carries garden supplies, screws, tools, hardware, paints and more.  Copies keys too.

Address: 1018 Woodland St

Fairytales

in-fairytales-logoFairytales creates magic with imagination for children.

Address: 1603 Riverside Drive

Products: It's products are books, science kits, dress up items, and educational books that focus on young children (but I also saw stuff that would appeal to all ages that enjoy fiction and learning.) Most of the products look like ones that you don't see on the shelf at other stores.
